Post NCE DCC 10 amp power supply inquiry

In preparation for building an O scale layout someways down the road, I've been lucky enough to have been able to buy NCE DCC items, both at this years Trainfest, and at various hobby shops. Unbeknowst to me, the 10 amp system, and boosters do not have power supplies, unlike the 2 and 5 amp counterparts. I have found a 10 amp Brutus unit, and the dealer has told me about a Digitrax 20 amp power supply unit with two 10A feeds for my 2 boosters. Has anybody have had success with using one of these with a NCE system, or should i just stick with the OEM equipment. I think as long as the voltage and amperage output matches the needs of the NCE equipment, I should be alright, but just need some more knowledgable input. Reason I am getting this stuff now, is that NCE just had a major price increase, and I want to get the big ticket stuff out of the way while at the old prices. Thanks in advance.

Well, a little investigation goes a long way. I did kind of answer my own questions on this. Seems the Digitrax 20A supply only has 3 output voltages, 13.6, 16, and 23 V. The NCE boosters require 18VAC, so the Digitrax unit would not be sufficient to power what I have.

Stick with the NCE. After you were over I looked up the cost of the new Brutus 10 amp supply. Mine is the older version so I thought I would grab this new one for backup. Found one at the old price of $135.

Hi Dan....I did get the one from Jetco's Hiawatha Hobbies, plus found a second one at the same cost as what you bought yours for, from a DCC dealer in Colorado.. The Digitrax 20A supply did not put out the proper voltage for using the NCE 10A boosters. Thanks!
